CareWare® is a Hospital Management Information System that has been developed using Oracle Relational Database Management System and its development tools. As a result, the system is totally hardware platform independent.

CareWare® uses International standards for coding schemes. Coding schemes such as ICD-9-CM, the recently released ICD-10, CPT and ISBT for blood transfusion, are supported within the system. The CareWare® system, is currently going through a process of modifications to comply with the HL7 Standard (Health Level 7 Standard Protocol).

CareWare® system provides automation for all patient related activities including all services provided during an encounter; capturing financial, administrative and clinical information related to the patient and case-management. Moreover, all other types of services related to ambulatory care provided to all patients are recorded and dealt with and reflected in the financial status of the patient in the hospital, on an online real-time basis. The system is working on–line in an integrated environment -- this implies that all the transactions affected in any of the modules are reflected in a consolidated nature at any point of query. Health Insurance Contract management and pricing policies are efficiently managed through the system. Costing and budgeting functionalities are part of the system since all related data items are captured. Security is a unique functionality of the system and allows for strict approval frameworks to control access to any module of the system.

CareWare® apply managed care rules in accordance to managed care contracts allowing Hospital management to monitor on a concurrent basis the actual expenditure of the patient vis-à-vis the contractual limits provided for in the managed care contract. The systems uniquely rich development architecture therefore allows hospital management to monitor per diem and capitation fees in an on-line real time basis.
