What we do
Supplying hospitals around the world with advanced medical equipment
Our major product lines are patient monitors, defibrillators, ECGs, EEGs, EP/EMGs, hematology analyzers and other medical electronic equipment. Nihon Kohden equipment is well known for its quality and ease of use.

Contributing to medical technology
In addition to designing medical equipment for hospital and clinical use, Nihon Kohden actively contributes to the advance of medical technology and papers by Nihon Kohden researchers have appeared in a variety of medical journals.

Noninvasive measurement of SpO2 (saturated blood oxygen) is a fundamental parameter in modern medicine, and it was made possible by the invention of pulse oximetry by Dr. Takuo Aoyagi, a Nihon Kohden scientist. Nihon Kohden has also developed special sensors, an infrared telemetry system and other physiological equipment for experiments on the space shuttle.

In October 2001, we received ISO 14001 certification for production sites in Japan. This is the internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems. ISO 14001 certification is a measurable result of our commitment to good environmental practice.
